It’s been a long time since I played much progressive trance. A lot of the epic trance that I used to love, now called uplifting trance, has become so flowery and filled with vocals, it just seems to have lost its underground sound. And now trance music is facing the same problem that house music faced in the 90s: there is so much trash out there, that it takes forever to wade through it all and find the good stuff.

I’m pretty stoked to have Eric Allen on the show this week! I knew there was something about his style that I was drawn to, and as we chatted a bit more about some of his influences and styles, there seemed to be a common theme: high energy stuff that stays interesting. Probably the most fascinating thing was that, with such a similar taste in music, several of the artists he plays aren’t even on my radar! You can be sure that I’ll spend the rest of the week trolling through some of the artists and labels that he played on tonight’s show.

This week I started out with 38 tracks all competing for a spot in my hour long set. After thinning and thinning, and then thinning some more, I was left with 16 freaking amazing tracks that could be thinned out, no more. This set starts out at a throbbing progressive pace and slowly builds to an all out jaw smashing climax.
