I was really struggling to find a direction for this week’s set. I’m pretty sure I’ve been fighting off a cold and it seems like my head was just scattered. As it turns out, my opening set was going quite well, right up until the last track. All too often I make the decision to play “just one more”, and all too often it’s that last track that just doesn’t quite fit. If I’d listened to that quiet voice in the back of my head, I probably could have anticipated that it just wasn’t quite going to work… but some people are better listeners than others

So I started going through my vinyl collection yesterday. I used to do it all the time. Now it only happens once a year, if that. Anyways, I came across a ton of rare white labels and test pressings, started looking up tracks on discogs and seeing if anything was available on iTunes. There were lots of bootlegs and test pressings that just aren’t available from the digital stores, but it inspired this trance anthem mix.

It’s been week’s and week’s since I posted a tracklist! The show goes on, but the last four or five weeks are iTunes only. Not because the shows haven’t been good, actually they’ve been quite good, but life has been busy so I’ve only been doing the bare minimum.

In the last couple week’s I’ve been inspired to dig out some of my old classic trance anthems and mix them in with some deep trance. This set was recorded just a day or two after last week’s show and I happened to be recording it. It just happened to be Caddyshack’s birthday too, so a birthday mixtape it is!

Wow – I was rummaging through old mix tapes, which lead me to look up a tracklist of an old skool trance and breakbeat mixtape by Kid Bippy – circa 1995. That lead me looking up some of the tracks on YouTube and that planted the seed for this week’s ultimate throwback old skool trance mix.

There are a few bumps along the way – such as the first mix or two – but get past that and get into some super long mixes of some of the most recognizable trance anthems of the early 90s. Did people even call them anthems back then?
