After many weeks of PsyTrance and a few weeks of talking about a new deep trance mix, Smiley Mike finally delivers with a mix of new and old tracks including deep trance, uplifting trance (or epic trance as I like to call it) and even a few vocal trance trax.

Caddyshack follows up with some uplifting vocal trance of his own, but his set, and the entire show – is cut about 10 minutes short after security guards walk into the studio and inform us that we have to leave the UBC Student Union Building immediately due to a bomb threat. (I’m not sure who makes a threat on a nearly empty building at close to midnight on a Sunday – but that’s how it went down!)

Well, it’s definitely better than most of the shows in the past 6 months. I’ve had some good parts of shows but there always seems to be some considerable screw-up that keeps me from posting the mix in the sidebar as a featured podcast.

The first mix is likely the shakiest and as the show goes on it just gets better and better until the last 45 minutes are really solid.

The first half is more deep pulsing layered trance that slowly builds. The second half is a little harder and a little more epic with some big ups and downs and several trance anthem remixes from over the years.

Sorry I missed last week’s show. This week was going to be a remix of three weeks ago but at the 11th hour I started pulling out records and the set seemed to be taking a more classic trance anthem feel. I’ve always had a handful of records that are brilliant but seemingly impossible to mix. This week I brought 5 or 6 of them and overall things didn’t go to badly. The first mix was a little forced but then things smooth out a little better.

This week I did set aside the Nukleuz records and laid down a fairly deep trance set including a few well-known trance classics. All in all the set went pretty smooth. Being a perfectionist I can hear every wobble but there were really no major mistakes.

Both the first hour and the second hour start with the same track which is written and produced by Nick Hook & Martin Sharp and released on Total Music Records – but then each set goes in its own direction.
