This week we have two very special guests playing live in the studio! DJ Dresden and Goa Pete are the lead organizers behind Goa Trance Mission, a local Vancouver group that have been bringing some amazing psytrance DJs into Vancouver for both indoor and outdoor parties.
Their next show is on Dec 1st at W2 in downtown Vancouver, when they will be bringing Avalon over from the UK for a live performance.

I didn’t prep at all for this show, and my set turned out great! Funny how that happens. I play second after Caddyshack this week. If I recall correctly, Caddyshack plays epic trance and then my set is all full on psychedelic – some of my fave tracks.
I have no idea what Caddyshack played… I did n’t write anything down that week. Luckily, serato keeps a record of everything I play.

Last year was a big year for Trancendance and 2011 is already starting strong. After dabbling with a few bootleg remixes last year, this just might be the year that dj Smiley Mike remixes make the rounds. One of the advantages I have, is that I’m really not in it for the money, and since I don’t need to worry about licensing, I can concentrate on bootleg remixes and mashups that would never get licensed. Fun times!
So I’ve been working on a Platipus mix set after it was requested a couple times via the Facebook page. I started with a bootleg mix of Tranquil by Quietman and was just getting ready for a bootleg remix of Calling Your Name by Libra & Taylor when I had to put the Platipus mix on hold. I had agreed to do a collaboration mix with DJ D.Project from the Netherlands and he gave me his part of the mix last week (which is freakin’ amazing!) and so I’ve been trying to find tracks that will live up to the massive stompers that he’s started with (I think I found some So watch for our collaboration mix to appear soon…

My set from this week is still untitled. It must be a bit early for the creative juices to be flowing.
Some weeks when I go looking for music, it seems like I have to listen to 100 tracks to find 1 or 2 good ones, but this week it seems like everything I listened to was brilliant! What started off as a tribute to Mekkanikka (who will be playing live at Organix (Club 23 West) in Vancouver next Friday, soon grew to include new music from Laughing Buddha, a new artist I’d never heard of before named Triptych, new tracks from TIP World and another new group named Mesmerizer. This week’s set is VERY psychedelic.
For the second half of the show, Caddyshack brought out some updated Union Jack sounds (a personal fave) as well as some mashed up classics. I could admit I didn’t write down his setlist because I was chatting with our studio guest, Jay (really glad you came by!), but it’s way more fun to just say Caddyshack’s set is top secret – like back in the day when DJs would be pretty reluctant to tell you what tracks they were playing
