This week dj Smiley Mike slows it down for a deep trance mix while dj Caddyshack gets inspired by David Guetta’s recent appearance in Vancouver, and touches on all four corners of trance from the borderline house sounds of Nalin & Kane’s Beachball to the ripping acid sounds of I am Techno by TV Rock.

Last year was a big year for Trancendance and 2011 is already starting strong. After dabbling with a few bootleg remixes last year, this just might be the year that dj Smiley Mike remixes make the rounds. One of the advantages I have, is that I’m really not in it for the money, and since I don’t need to worry about licensing, I can concentrate on bootleg remixes and mashups that would never get licensed. Fun times!
So I’ve been working on a Platipus mix set after it was requested a couple times via the Facebook page. I started with a bootleg mix of Tranquil by Quietman and was just getting ready for a bootleg remix of Calling Your Name by Libra & Taylor when I had to put the Platipus mix on hold. I had agreed to do a collaboration mix with DJ D.Project from the Netherlands and he gave me his part of the mix last week (which is freakin’ amazing!) and so I’ve been trying to find tracks that will live up to the massive stompers that he’s started with (I think I found some So watch for our collaboration mix to appear soon…
But I even had to put the collaboration mix on hold so I could put this set together for you tonight! Give it a listen, and if you like it, please subscribe to our iTunes podcast!

I couldn’t wait for this week’s show after being forced to take last week off! You guys have been asking for a fix of dark psytrance and this week’s set delivers. As usual it’s mixed with a fairly deep and twisted selection of fullon psy. I also discovered a great EP by Planewalker titled Psychic Evolution, which is available for free download at Ektoplasm. It’s a killer mix of breakbeat and psychedelic trance which seems to be shaping a relatively new sub-genre called psybreaks. While still a relatively young sub-sub-genre of trance, I could see more artists like Planewalker and Dapanji creating a pretty popular fusion between the already popular psytrance and breakbeat sub-genres.
Caddyshack drops some new tracks in his set this week too, including a new Nick Sentience remix of Edison Factor and a killer Organ Donors remix of Adapter by Scott Attrill. Another track worth mentioning for Hard Acid Trance fans is Andy Farley & Base Graffiti – No More. Base Graffiti is one of those names I don’t see too often, but it always catches my attention when one of their tracks get’s played.

There’s a glitch in the first 5 minutes or so, but once you skip past that – this week’s show should not be missed! Possibly my best Hard Trance Mix ever, this may turn into my latest demo mix. New and old smashing tracks and a few that have been given the Smiley Mike touch – guaranteeing that you won’t hear a set quite like this anywhere else in the world!
For those who are curious – these are digital tracks mixed live using Serato with vinyl control records.

After 15 years of DJing I can’t fend off the remix bug any longer. I still have a huge learning curve ahead of me but this week’s set features “first drafts” of two bootleg remixes. After a few listens, I’ve already got a few improvements in mind, but I’m pretty keen to hear feedback and constructive criticism too. As soon as I’ve tuned them up I’ll post links so you can find them on SoundCloud.
The first remix is really just a mashup of Activa’s Transmission with an old white label vinyl that I’ve had in the collection for a long while: Spoken Words by eGYPT.
The second remix is of Progress by Phil Reynolds and Ben Bennett – a killer track to begin with. It’s a bootleg remix so it’s a little choppy in a couple places, but overall it seems okay for one of my first endeavors into remixing. It uses parts from the original mix, parts from the Adrenalin Department remix and there’s a little sample in there from an Ephedrix track, along with a few sounds of my own.
The second half of the show features a guest mix by Simon Qudos – one of my current fave hard trance producers. Currently based out of the UK, he’s looking to debut in Canada next year. If you like this guest mix, check out Simon Qudos on sound cloud.
